Degradable Materials Used In Plastic Bags
PLA : One of the most common degradable plastics, is a polymer obtained by polymerization of lactic acid as the main raw material. The PLA production process is pollution-free and the product is biodegradable. The PLA after use can be composted and decomposed into carbon dioxide and water at temperatures above 55°C or by oxygen enrichment and microbial action, achieving material circulation in nature without environmental impact. At present, polylactic acid is mainly produced by lactide ring-opening polymerization process, which first dehydrates lactic acid to produce oligomers, then depolymerizes to produce lactide, and then ring-opening polymerization to produce polylactic acid. PLA also has reliable biosafety, biodegradability, good mechanical properties and easy processing, and is widely used in packaging, textile industry, agricultural mulch film and biomedical polymer industries. The disadvantage of PLA is that the degradation conditions are relatively harsh. However, because PLA has a relatively low cost in biodegradable plastics, PLA consumption is at the forefront.
PBS : It is formed by condensation polymerization of succinic acid and 1, 4-butanediol, and the raw material source is fermentation of petroleum or biological resources. PBS is easy to be decomposed into carbon dioxide and water by a variety of microorganisms or enzymes in nature, and has good biocompatibility and bioabsorbability, and good heat resistance. PBS can be used in packaging films, tableware, foam packaging materials, daily necessities bottles, medicine bottles, agricultural films, pesticides and fertilizer slow-release materials and other fields. Due to the limited raw materials of succinic acid in our country, the alternative materials of PBS, PBAT and PBSA, are derived, and their performance is basically similar to PBS, but the processing performance is not as good as PBS.
PBAT : Is a thermoplastic degradable plastic, generally using aliphatic acid and butaneol as raw materials, produced by petrochemical or biological fermentation. It has good ductility and elongation at break, as well as good heat resistance and impact properties. Due to its good film forming performance and easy film blowing, PBAT is widely used in the field of disposable packaging film and agricultural film. In addition, PBAT also has excellent biodegradability and is one of the best degradable materials in degradable plastics research and market application.
PHA : PHAs degradable plastics include polyhydroxybutyrate (PHA), poly3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB), copolymer of 3-hydroxybutyrate and 3-hydroxyvalerate (PHBV), and copolymer of 3-hydroxybutyrate and 3-hydroxycaproate (PHBH). PHAs degradable plastics are the products of bacteria when growth conditions are unbalanced. Among the many degradable plastics, the degradation method of PHA is the most special, and PHA can be completely degraded into β-hydroxybutyric acid, carbon dioxide and water in the biological body after use. PHAs degradable plastics have high thermal deformation temperature and good biocompatibility, but narrow processing temperature range, poor thermal stability, brittleness, unstable production quality, can be used in disposable supplies, medical instruments, surgical gowns, packaging bags and compost bags, medical sutures, repair devices, bandages, orthopedic needles, anti-adhesion film and stent and other fields.
